TNT Business Solutions: Committed to corporate responsibility
We’re committed to managing our business in a socially responsible manner. We want to make a positive contribution to the communities in which we work and have a minimal impact on the environment in which we operate.
TNT believes that corporate responsibility is not only the right thing to do – It also makes good business sense. The positive, can-do attitude that underpins the way we approach our work is reflected in our CR activity. We believe we can make a difference.
We aim to achieve standards of responsible care across a number of key areas, including:
Care for employees
TNT employees are our most important asset, so how do we ensure we care for them? By creating a safe workplace where people can speak freely, are treated equally, are engaged and rewarded competitively. We live up to the Investors in People standards by providing development opportunities for our employees, allowing them to be successful and thus creating value for the business.
Care for the environment
In the UK, TNT’s fleet of 3,500 vehicles accounts for 80% of the company’s CO² emissions. As part of the larger transport industry, we know that it’s important to do everything we can to reduce our carbon footprint. That’s why in the UK, we’ve invested in the world’s largest fleet of electric trucks, producing 45% less CO² than diesel equivalents. Planet Me, TNT’s global carbon reduction programme, encourages our company and our employees to consider the environmental impact of how we work and live. What does this mean in practical terms? From using aerodynamic trailers which reduce fuel consumption by 25%, to using biofuels which don’t hurt the planet in production or use, we do all that we can to care for the environment.
Care for the society in which we all live and work
We share responsibility for the pressing challenges facing the planet. TNT is a corporate partner of the United Nations’ World Food Programme, the largest humanitarian and aid agency on the planet. TNT has also raised in excess of £2.3 million for our main charity Wooden Spoon , since we began supporting them in 1997.
TNT’s Corporate Responsibility Report outlines the ways we pledge to make these commitments reality.
