Hi all,

Well we finally made it! After 480 miles we reached the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona late on Sunday evening.

The ride into the city was exhilarating as we could at last see the finish and, after six days on my bike, it was a relief in more ways than one!

This has been a fun and challenging trip but, most importantly, thanks to your generosity, I have raised over £1,100 for the Wooden Spoon. Many thanks for all your support.

Kind regards

Tim

Hi all,

We are currently stopped in the historic city of Carcassonne recovering from our six mile ride over the Black Mountains. The stunning views across to the snow capped peaks of the Pyrenees more than made up for the pain.

Today is our longest ride of 100 miles as we near the Spanish boarder. Wind has been a real problem - and by that I mean it has been blowing into our faces all the way!

Tomorrow we ride for 80 miles and then on Sunday we have the final push to Barcelona. Many thanks to all of you have donated, you have been incredibly generous and I am very grateful. If you still want to donate, please visit http://www.justgiving.com/timrobb1

Thanks again

Tim

Hi all,

Having started in Bordeaux on Tuesday  we are into day three of our French-Spanish bike ride.

Today we are cycling just north of Toulouse from Moissac to Soreze a distance of 80 miles. By the end of today we will have covered 210 miles of the 470 we have to do. We are slowly making our way down towards the Mediterranean and crossing into Spain on Saturday. The weather has thankfully picked up, and we finally have a bit of sun. You can follow our progress on http://web.me.com/neilcusdin/Site/Welcome.html

It is not too late to sponsor me for the Wooden Spoon on http://www.justgiving.com/timrobb1

Thanks

Tim

Read on for details of Divisional Director, Business Solutions Tim Robb's marathon bike challenge from Bordeaux to Barcelona.

*************************************************************************************

Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard and the rest of Fabio Capello’s men embark on what will inevitably turn out to be an ill-fated journey for glory when they begin their World Cup campaign on June 12.

Let’s be honest, we’re deluding ourselves if we think we’re going to triumph over the likes of Spain and Brazil. If you show an England team a penalty shoot-out you may as well direct them straight to the departure lounge and a flight back to Blighty, on the back of yet another inglorious failure.

But English success on foreign soil will still be achievable in June.

Two dozen cyclists, myself included, are undertaking a gruelling 462-mile journey from Bordeaux to Barcelona to raise funds for worthy causes, including the children’s charity, Wooden Spoon.

As the saying goes ‘if there’s no pain, there’s no gain’ which may well be true of my exploits in the saddle, but not necessarily so when it comes to helping British businesses on their journey out of recession.

In a similar way that I have to prepare thoroughly, plan meticulously and execute faultlessly to succeed on my ride through France and Spain, TNT Business Solutions does the same when addressing the outsourcing needs in both the private and public sectors.

We operate in demanding arenas where a peerless service has to be delivered within tight budgets, and where customer expectations have to be exceeded against a backdrop of optimum efficiency.

It’s no easy ride, but in the same way that I hope to lap up some stunning Franco-Iberian scenery TNT Business Solutions is actively enhancing the economic landscape in the fields of Information Solutions, Records Management, Facilities Management and Logistics Solutions.

It’s a well-crafted and integrated range of services designed to deal with every aspect in the lifecycle of a document from conception to destruction, from paper to digital.

Rather like the rugged terrain I encounter on my training rides, there are plenty of peaks and troughs that businesses will need to navigate in the weeks, months and year that lie ahead. Economic recovery, growth and prosperity will come from endurance and the ability of businesses to adapt to the changing needs of their own particular markets.

It’s a cliché, I know, but it takes a marathon effort rather than a sprint finish.

And by the time I drag my weary body back from the finish line in Barcelona I hope England will be off to a winning start against the USA, it’s time to bring on Algeria but, as for winning the cup, I really don’t think so!

Good luck Mr Robb - as a profesional sportsman I appreciate what a grueling task this will be. Will you be blogging again with your progress?

Thanks for that John. Sorry for the delay in responding - I've been working hard on my training. It' is going well and, while it will be a real challenge, I'm going to make sure I'm ready for it. My next blog will give you an update on how I got on with the ride and also look at other challenges we're meeting head-on, this time in the corporate world.

Good luck to you all on your trip. As a keen cyclist I do envy you. Tim let's hope your World Cup predictions are a little "off target"

Yes, I agree with Simon. Good luck, and I'm hoping you and the rest of England conquer Spain and France on the journey to success!

I am sure you'll be sore when you get back Mr Robb. I think it's fabulous - what a trip. May I suggest you plan another, but possibly in Sydney, Australia. I am aware TNT have links there too. Your expertise may be valued in that area. I'm sorry the English were knocked out so quickly. We Australians didn't do much better. Ahh well. Keep up the biking.
