In the weeks following the coalition government’s emergency budget, some companies seem resigned to the fact that they will be the ones bearing the brunt of the cost-cutting commitments bestowed upon the public sector and are taking steps to ready themselves for the storm.

It’s true. The landscape is changing and those that fail to adapt will be playing a dangerous game. But it doesn’t have to be the provider that absorbs all the cuts. For those willing to challenge the status quo and look at different ways of working, this climate actually provides more opportunities than threats.

In TNT Business Solutions, we have a proven track record of doing things differently and our records management service is a prime example. In 2006, University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) took the brave, but astute decision to outsource its patient records management to TNT. Vital time was being taken up by medical staff hunting for records and valuable space, which could be used for frontline patient care, was being wasted storing them.

In short, TNT provides a seamless service that reduces costs and allows hospital staff to increase the quality of service to patients. We ensure patient records are accurate, complete and are with medical staff well in advance of appointments. For emergencies, we retrieve records and deliver them to the hospital in just 90 minutes.

This is just one example of how we are adapting and challenging the norm to create cost savings for our customers, without simply taking a hit ourselves. Instead of cost cutting we see it as value adding. And by taking this approach to both the public and private sector, we are able to work with our customers to help them achieve their cost reduction targets while achieving our own business objectives.

Craig, I would add to your comments that with the advancement of technology and the service offerings across the whole of Business Solutions TNT are in a prime position to be a single provider of services for non core activity within any NHS organisation.
